City of Austin Announces Free Professional Workshop Series

austin creativesThe City of Austin Cultural Arts Division is excited to announce a lineup of free technical assistance workshops offered through its Take it to the Next Level Program. Individual artists, staff and board members of nonprofit arts organizations, and those working in the for-profit creative industries are invited to participate in the series of workshops and speaker presentations scheduled throughout August and September. 

The Next Level Program is designed to give local creatives training in crucial areas. Workshops will cover topics fundamental to running a cultural nonprofit, including grant writing and evaluation, fundraising, and board development. Nonprofits and small businesses alike can also benefit from workshops focusing on social media engagement and branding.

Austin creativesThis schedule also offers several opportunities for creative professionals to learn from their peers (i.e., artists learning from artists) including:

Jennifer Chenoweth: Visual artist, business owner, and Art in Public Places Panel member who will present three sessions geared toward issues facing individual artists: entrepreneurship, professional presence, and collaboration.

Jason Neulander: Locally acclaimed theater producer Jason Neulander will discuss his current project and multi-year world tour multimedia production, The Intergalactic Nemesis, which has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and CONAN.

August 21st – The Rules of Engagement: Above and Beyond “Social Media 101” (Presenter: Ryan Malone)

August 29th – Your Brand Is As Your Brand Does (Presenter: David Wyatt)

September 5th – Creative Entrepreneurship (Presenter: Jennifer Chenoweth)

September 6th – Roles and Responsibilities of Nonprofit Boards (Presenter: Ann Star)

September 12th – Getting a Jump on Grant Evaluation and Reporting (Presenter: Sue Breland)

September 25th – Community, Collaboration, and Trade (Presenter: Jennifer Chenoweth)

REGISTRATION:  Times and locations for workshops vary. Workshop series events are presented free of charge.
