Austin area & Central Texas: Westlake Hills home sales increase 300 percent

Homes in Westlake Hills experienced a huge increase in June 2018, according to data from the Austin Board of REALTORS®. Three hundred percent more homes closed in Westlake in June 2018 than closed in June 2017. When comparing the June 2018 home sales data to May 2018, home sales increased 140 percent.

The median sold price for a home in Westlake reached $1,409,000. This is a 76.1 percent increase compared to June 2017 and a 19.5 percent increase compared to May 2017.

Westlake is relatively small in comparison to its Austin-area neighbors so these figures are based on a total of 12 sales for the month of June 2018. Westlake Hills can include some areas on Lake Austin. Westlake property sales are usually competitive in part because homes are zoned for the Eanes Independent School District, one of the top school districts in the state. The general area of Westlake Hills also is relatively “built out,” meaning new construction is rare and a home search can take time.
